In my work, I bear witness to the truth of human connection and the profound impact we have on one another. Each piece reflects the journey of walking beside another through life, celebrating the moments when we can say, “This person lived, and made a difference to so many. This person brought happiness and love to others again and again.” My art honors those who hold the key to our lives because they know our stories, making us all keepers of each other's flame.
The elements of stitching and burning in my artwork symbolize the passage of time and the fragility of life. They represent the delicate balance between creation and destruction, reminding us of the preciousness of each moment and the intricate, sometimes painful, beauty of our interconnected lives.
The technical process behind these prints involves hand-cut stencils from plastic or mylar, using chemical free inks. The substrate is plastic, and I continuously roll ink onto the stencils, turning them, printing and moving them with each pass through my Sturgis Press. The Fabriano Black Paper, known for its sturdiness, withstands multiple pressings, maintaining its integrity. The threading element not only supports the structure but also adds an aesthetic dimension.
