Interlude

In Interlude, carved linoleum prints are printed on a printing press and layered in different directions over and over again to create depth and complexity. The edges of the prints are burned, and the pieces are attached with thread, symbolizing the fragility and interconnectedness of life. This language of music and image is central to this work, where each element informs and enhances the other, blending the auditory and visual into a unified language of expression.

Just as recurring motifs in music resonate and evolve over time, so too does the imagery in my art. Each piece begins with an idea that takes root in my mind, embedding itself until it finds its rightful place within the broader composition. This process mirrors the way musical ideas develop, subtly shifting and growing until they are woven into the fabric of a song.

Through my art, I aim to create a sensory experience that resonates with the viewer, much like a song that lingers in the mind long after the final note has been played. My work is an invitation to reflect on the changes and nuances that shape our world, and to find harmony in the midst of transformation.

My work explores the deep connections between music, visual art, and the world. Like motifs in music, imagery in my art evolves, shifting and embedding itself within the larger composition. This mirrors how musical ideas develop, subtly growing until woven into a song. Music has been a constant in my life, shaping memory and evoking vivid images. Through a unique blend of sound and sight, I create a sensory language that resonates. My work invites reflection on the changing world, offering harmony in the midst of transformation, much like a melody that lingers beyond its final note.
