More recently, new subjects have entered my visual vocabulary. Issues having to do with others are affecting me. It began with the “Tug of War” series, which addressed my life from childhood on in the wars around the globe I listened to on the radio and television-constantly clouding up my world with negativity and conflict. The push and pull pressures between the figures of equal proportions and value of color reflect the power struggle within. I became interested in Boxing as a discipline, a martial arts exercise when I met Eddie Mercado, Two times Golden Glove Champion. We met by chance recently and he proceeded to tell me about these boys he teaches the art of boxing to. Sparring and Waltzing are some of the boxing terms I have encountered; causing me to exercise and entertain a deeper interest in “The Sweet Science.”
